MDA Awaiting Approval of State Budget

The Missouri Dairy Association (MDA) awaits Governor Greitens' approval of the new state budget which includes $700,000 for MPP producer reimbursement.

MDA's position has always been that these monies should reimburse the 2015 and 2016 producer sign ups which would cover the most producers and the largest producer outlay for MPP coverage. There is a cap of 34 cents per cwt.

Greitens Sends Letter to EPA on WOTUS on Behalf of Ag Groups, MDA

Governor Greitens and DNR Director Carol Comer sent a letter to EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt outlining suggestions for withdrawing the WOTUS (Waters of the US Rule) rule. Missouri's ag groups, including MDA, requested the letter.

Dairy Month Celebration

MDA held a June Dairy Month celebration June 9 in Springfield, which included a tour of the Paul Mueller Company plant and training center.

Representative Bill Reiboldt (District 160) presented the State of Missouri June Dairy Month proclamation to MDA President Ted Sheppard at a luncheon sponsored by Hiland Dairy Foods. Midwest Dairy Association's Ron Grusenmeyer informed attendees about the launch of a new dairy promotion program "Undeniably Dairy".

MDA Seeking Supreme Junior Dairy Winners 

The award is available to all of Missouri's local fairs with dairy cow competitions.  The 2017 forms have been mailed to all fair contacts, youth specialists and dairy specialists.

Eagle Foods Moving Operations to Texas

Eagle Foods has announced the move of their operations from the Seneca plant to El Paso, Texas, a year from now. The plant is supplied by Central Equity Milk Cooperative producers.

Milk Source Purchases Heartland Dairy

Milk Source of Wisconsin has purchased Heartland Dairy at LaBelle and will now be called LaBelle Dairy.

MDA Attends Event for EPA Administrator

EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt was hosted by Associated Electric Cooperatives and Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives during a visit this spring to the Thomas Hill power plant.  MDA Executive Director Dave Drennan attended and visited with national and state legislative leaders including Missouri Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft.

Missouri Farmers Care Hosts Legislative Luncheon

2017 April 26 MFC Photo in the Rotunda.PNGMissouri Farmers Care held a legislative appreciation luncheon in the rotunda at the Capitol this spring.  MDA along with over 40 ag organizations belong to Missouri Farmers Care. Dave Drennan represented MDA and made several contacts for funding the Missouri Dairy Revitalization Act.
